Death Monkey Showcase @ THE OFFICE SWANSEA

This THURSDAY Jan 29 it’s the Death Monkey ‘January Showcase’ at The Office, Swansea, one of our home cities most awesome Rock Pub’s and music venues.

With 100,000 Bodybags and World Vs. World just launching their NEW albums on the label in the past month, we turn our attention to a night focusing on some of the great Artists coming through with releases later in the year.

Fluff Tongue host the evening, doing so as they put the finishing touches to a truly epic record which we’ve been working on the past year or so and promises to be E.X.P.L.O.S.I.V.E
Joining them are Lawless & Lulu and Bankrupt Pug both lined up to enter the studio with us later in the year.
Come down to hear some excellent music on a Thursday night in a very cool venue and see what Death Monkey Records has in store for you in the near future.

WvW‘The Sentinel Paradox’ Tour

World Vs. World will be doing a South Wales mini tour next week to celebrate the launch of The Sentinel Paradox, starting a week today and covering Llanelli, Swansea, Newport and Cardiff. 100000 Bodybags will also be joining them on their Swansea, Newport and Cardiff dates at The Scene, Le Pub and Fuel.

The tour starts at The Masons Arms Llanelli next Saturday for a special pre-launch show where you can get a copy of the album two days before its’ official release. Then stopping off at The Scene in Swansea on Wednesday 4th, Le Pub in Newport on Friday 6th and finishing the week off on Saturday 7th in Cardiff at FUEL ROCK CLUB, with a few radio appearances in between on Monday 2nd for a special Launch Day broadcast on www.oystermouthradio.com and another guest appearance on www.newportcityradio.org on Thursday 6th.

All shows are free entry.

World Vs World Drop New Single

The second single to come from the upcoming Album ‘The Sentinel Paradox’ released February 2nd through Death Monkey Records is out today.

In the run up to the release of their debut album, World Vs World drop their brand new single, ‘Dark Night Of The Soul’. Keep an eye out for the music video to follow closely behind! 

100,000 Bodybags Release ‘Breaking Something Beautiful’

A Punk Rock landmark has arrived, the first album from 100,000 Bodybags in 14 years. This is a band who have doggedly continued to be a persistent presence on the South Wales music scene for over two decades.

 After courting early commercial success on the underground scene, Bodybags narrowly avoided being dragged into the clusterfuck of bands uncerrmoniously thrust into an exploitative mainstream music industry keen to capitalise on the emerging alternative culture in the nineties. An act of exquisite self-sabotage saw them seal their fate after starting a riot at a label showcase event in London, proving too hot to handle, they were dropped.

Their music over the subsequent years has continued to display the same aggression and irreverence as their early material, the band yet to be tamed, with a defiant attitude to do things on their own terms. 

This confrontational spirit is only offset by the playfulness with which they deliver their songs, which are often both flippant and poetic in equal measures, ranging from the philosophical, political, to self reflective. 

100,000 Bodybags leer at their audience from behind a mask of feigned ignorance, deceptivley simplifying their weighty ideology with witty one-shot quips, all the time playing the fool, while bombarding the listener with thrashing distortion and strangled screams.

World Vs. World – Bohemian Groove

We’ve yet another single release this month. 

World Vs. World were in the studio with us all Summer recording their debut album and we can finally confirm that it will be out February 2nd on Death Monkey. 

Conspiracy and intrigue are abound in this first release from the Llanelli trio . “Welcome to 1984….”

100,000 Bodybags – All BMW Drivers are Arseholes

The next single to come from ‘Breaking Something Beautiful’ ahead of it’s release next month is ’ALL BMW DRIVERS ARE ARSEHOLES’. A song that’s already achieving status as a true punk rock anthem amongst audiences  at Bodybags live shows.

Here for the first time in it’s full stereo glory is ‘ALL BMW DRIVERS ARE ARSEHOLES’  …. 

100,000 Bodybags NEW Single Providence (of Recompence)

100,000 Bodybags drop the first single from their new album out early next year on Death Monkey Records.

Providence (of Recompence) is the lead single to be taken from ‘Breaking Something Beautiful’ the first album from the infamous Blackwood punk band in over a decade.

The debut song is an angry, thrashy, vitriolic rampage which cuts to harmonious and melodic chorus suddenly  and completely ridiculously, the type of musically shocking departure Bodybags have come to be known for. Their deliberate, considered, clown like mockery, humour and satire spilling through the speakers.  

‘Breaking Something Beautiful’ is released January 5th 2015.

FOOD-AID CHARITY GIG

We’re damn proud at DMR to have a roster who not only make kick-ass music, but also actively campaign for the convictions and ideals which go into their song writing. 

 Our artists are diverse, but many of them are rooted in a Punk Rock doctrine of political awareness and social commentary which drives and inspires their music. It’s in this vein that a few of our roster have got together to put on a series of charity gigs, for those peoples and families who have been affected by austerity.

World Vs. World lead the charge;

Ok folks, this is the first of two shows we are doing in August in partnership with Swansea Food Bank (swansea.foodbank.org.uk).

At Crowley’s we wiil be joined by Nine Plan Failed and 100,000 Bodybags.

Both events are FREE ENTRY, all we ask is that those who come bring along an item or a selection of items from the list below which we will then collect on entry and will drop off at Swansea Food Bank after the events to help the more vulnerable people in our community.

We know the people of South Wales are very empathetic to others’ suffering, and bringing along a tin of baked beans or a packet of biscuits will make a hell of a difference to someone who can’t afford to feed their family.

DMR MAY SHOWCASE @ STATIC BAR

We’ve another showcase event coming up next month in STATIC BAR on Kingsway. 

STATIC is Swansea’s newest rock venue and has been responsible for bringing some truley amazing touring bands to West Wales since it opened, fulfilling  a much needed role since the departure of a number of key venues in the city in recent years and proving it’s hard to suppress the spirit and demand for live music in Swansea.

Swansea City Roller Derby Team Fundraiser

We’re teaming up with the girls from  Swansea Roller Derby to bring you a night of Punk, Grunge alt. Rock and Metal! Come down to THE GARAGE in Swansea Uplands for the fundraiser and help raise some cash for the team.

DMR Showcase at THE HOG AND HOSPER

Death Monkey is hosting a night at the HOG AND HOSPER in Newport! famous for it’s punk shows and the role it played in the thriving scene in Newport during the 90’s.
World Vs. World and nineplanfailed take to the stage for what promises to be a night of conspiracy and intrigue, two of the labels most politically charged artists come together to put the world to rights.
