100,000 BODYBAGS Join the Roster
Legendary Welsh Punk band 100,000 BODYBAGS have joined Death Monkey to produce and release their next album.
Bodybags have a long and history spanning over 20 years and are one of the few underground Punk bands in Wales still going strong to come out of the second wave of punk in the early nineties.
100,000 BODYBAGS 1994 single ‘Problem’ was released to much critical acclaim and it was anticipated by fans and the industry alike that they would join the ranks of alternative elite, acts who were shooting to meteoric success at the time. However, a reputation for outrageous comments and their frenetic live performances preceded them. A riot at one of their shows at a club in London, which the band were accused of inciting, curtailed their burgeoning career and they were subsequently dropped by their label ‘Damaged Goods Records’.
After their experiences with Damaged Goods and various other indie labels, BODYBAGS made the decision to self release for a number of years, pursuing their artistic freedom and desire to experiment while doing things on their own terms.
So it is with much excitement and reverence that we welcome 100,000 BODYBAGS onto Death Monkey Records! We’ve been fortunate enough to have BODYBAGS play for us on our showcase nights in the past and it was obvious from early on that they not only put on a kick ass punk rock show, but share the labels values and vision for the alternative scene across South Wales.
BODYBAGS hit the studio next year to record their new material for a 7 track mini album which we’ll be working on and released through Death Monkey. Check back for more news from the bags and their impending release!!
