Death Monkey is a UK Independent Label specialising in  Record Production based in Swansea, Wales. We’ve been part of the South West alt. music scene since 2010, making records and championing underground music from Wales and beyond.

Our purpose is to make sure artists stay in control,  giving them the support and creative freedom to ensure their records remain authentic and real. We’ve always taken a DIY ethos towards independent music and a belief that the underground produces some of the most vital, compelling music out there that can stand shoulder to shoulder with arena acts, and often surpass them in terms of purpose, passion and impact on the subculture.

We created DMR to document and support a corner of the underground that was going overlooked, which all too often will see incredible, yet fleeting acts which could implode at a moments notice without a trace, leaving behind only memories of epic shows and a conciliatory social media post with the sound of feedback still ringing in the ears of their fans from their last show.

Co-Founded by producer/engineer Dave Milsom & music promoter Dan Rowley, we work with artists out of local studios and with our in-house producer to shape the sound of releases.  We help records hit with the punch and competitive edge required to push boundaries and reach new audiences, while making sure they still sound like an indie record. We also offer Post-Production services, Mixing and Mastering, to finish up projects which artists may have already started themselves and help make them into Kick Ass records they are proud of and fans will love.

We work collaboratively with artists in 50/50 Partnership, often as a collective, so that artists make music on their own terms,  with many going on to support the label in return . Each release gets our full attention and care, not just as a product, but as a meaningful chapter in an artist’s story. That’s why every record we put out is a milestone for both the artist and the label, made with the same love and commitment they put into writing the songs.
